Kankakee, IL – Yesterday, legislation filed by State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) to address the special education hearing officer shortage was signed into law. The legislation, HB 4193 (P.A. 100-849) came at the request of local hearing officers to allow four extra days for the reporting deadline.
“Special Education hearing officers needed relief from the burdensome 10-day rule and this legislation alleviates this burden while ensuring prompt reporting by extending the deadline to 14 days.” Rep. Parkhurst stated.
HB 4193 passed both houses unanimously and was signed by the governor on August 14th.
