Kankakee, IL – Last week, legislation filed by State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) to increase aboveground fuel storage to 12,000 gallons was signed into law. The legislation, HB 4569 (P.A. 100-637) came at the request of local agriculture and transportation businesses to allow facilities for agriculture, construction, or commercial vehicles to store up to 12,000 gallons of a single type of fuel in aboveground storage tanks.
“It is always exciting for a bill you worked on with the community and pushed through the General Assembly to become law. This bill will allow our farmers and trucking companies to easily store the fuel they use for daily operations,” Rep. Parkhurst stated.
HB 4569 passed both houses unanimously and was signed by the governor on July 27th.
