Kankakee, IL – State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) today gave an update on flooding in Kankakee County.
“The Kankakee River crested at Momence and Wilmington on Wednesday. Both gauges hit moderate flood stage. Waters are receding fairly quickly,” Rep. Parkhurst stated.
“The area in Kankakee with the most impact was Aroma Park with 75-100 homes affected. The majority of this was either water at the foundation or in the basement. No one has been in a shelter and most residents stayed in their homes. Same for Momence where an estimated 60-80 homes were affected,” continued Rep. Parkhurst.
The United Methodist Church in Aroma Park is providing food/drinks to affected residents and is established as a donation center. Donation centers are also being established in Bradley and Momence.
The Salvation Army will distribute clean-up kits.
