State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst hosted a district open house on Thursday in her new office. The open house was held with the cooperation and help of the Kankakee Chamber of Commerce. Rep. Parkhurst, who took office in January, officially celebrated the opening of her district office with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
The 79th district stretches all the way from Coal City in Grundy County to the east through Kankakee to Hopkins Park. The office is centrally located in downtown Kankakee at 370 E Court Street.
In attendance were many notable members of the community including recently elected Kankakee Mayor Chastity Wells-Armstrong, Kankakee City Clerk Anjanita Dumas, and Kankakee County Auditor Jake Lee.
Over the course of the two hour event many constituents had the opportunity to express their thoughts and concerns about state issues.
“It was great to meet and talk with many members of the 79th district,” Rep Parkhurst said. “I want everyone to know that my office is an open and available resource for them.”
