Rep. Parkhurst Responds to Attorney General Madigan’s Recent Motion

Kankakee, IL….. In response to the recent filing by Attorney General Lisa Madigan in St. Clair County to block state worker pay, State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst (R-Kankakee) released the following statement:

“In the midst of crisis and uncertainty, state employees have continued to perform their jobs admirably and should be paid. I find the timing of this motion from Attorney General Lisa Madigan incredibly suspect, especially during ongoing and bipartisan budget negotiations. It is the constitutional responsibility of the General Assembly to pass a balanced budget. State employees have done their job, and it is not their fault the legislature has not done theirs. It is shameful and simply more partisan politics that Attorney General Madigan is using state employees as a bargaining chip. I call on the Attorney General to rescind her motion and instead work with all parties to put forth more constructive and helpful solutions to the problems facing our state.”
